The Loner

What are your impressions of the boy, as well as of the children in the poem?
Support your answer with relavant lines from the poem.

I think that the boy was rather anti-social as he does not mix around with others, but just with the playground wall. The sentence "Back against the wall he stays-And never plays" shows us that he came to playground often but he never once play with anyone, just the wall. The bot was not friendly ebough to make friends. He does not talk to them when they walked past.He probably does not have the courage to introduce himself to them or maybe the way he behaves make people does not dare to go forward and break the 'ice'between themselves and the loner."His loneness is his shell and shield And neither he nor we will yield"shows us thst nodboy would take the initiative to talk first and as a result, the loner was alone with the wall as his only companion.

The children was rather unfriendly towards the boy and always in cliques. They never try to talk and make friends with the loner. They always pass him when they are playing but never once invited him him to join them along."In slow huddled groups, low talking. Each in familiar clique"shows us that they are always gossiping among themselve ,playing with their own friends."We pass him by and never speak" tells us that they always saw him while playing but they always walked away without saying anything. This was probably because the children thinks that heis a weird guy, therefore does not introduce themselves. The someone is probably their neighbour as he is a loner and does not have friends, therefore probably his family told the neighbours.
